Below is an interactive map of Area 1. Feel free to browse around the Area and acquaint yourself with the vicinity! Be aware that this is a dynamic map and will change and be updated as new information is processed. Also, although we try to use the most accurate information in this map sometimes our facts are wrong or we just simply lack some information. If you have any information that we are lacking and wish to correct anything on this map, please e-mail vpcomm@nerventuring-bsa.org with the information.
Also, a .KML file of this map is available for download. This type of file can be opened with the free program Google Earth that may be downloaded at http://www.google.com/earth. The .KML file is web based, meaning, if we every update the map online, your .KML file will automatically update with it! This means that you’ll be able to share the file with other scouts and scouters from Area 1 and never have to worry about the map being out of date! Using this file within the Google Earth program has many unique features and benefits to your planning. Some of these include:
-
Quickly getting printable directions to remote camps hard to locate on GPS with two mouse clicks and the input of your starting address
-
Easier map navigation
-
Snapshot ability to “take a picture” of what you see on the map
-
Toggle map options: roads, landmarks, boarders, town labels, weather radar overlay, traffic reports, points of interest, etc.
-
The ability to selectively show only certain camps, offices, or councils
-
Being able to use the web links provided to every council’s website or camp websites without having to “copy & paste” into your web browser
