For the first time Rip Van Winkle Council is going to be holding a Powder Horn event this summer, on August 9-12, 2012. The event will be held at Camp Trimount in the Catskill Mountains in East Jewett, New York.
WHO: Calling ALL Scouting Adults and Youth (14 years or older)
WHAT: Powder Horn is an opportunity designed to expose Scouting Adults and Youth (14 years or older, or 13 and has completed eight grade if in Venturing) to the resources necessary to operate a successful high adventure program foryour unit. This action-packed, hands-on outdoor course will provide you with:

An introduction to a variety of resources necessary to provide a robust outdoor program

Knowledge of how to identify local resources and consultants for high adventure activities

Knowledge of the health and safety requirements, as well as the rules and regulations of the Boy Scouts of America as they apply to the outdoor programs.
WHEN: August 9 – 12, 2012
WHERE: Camp Tri-Mount, East Jewett, New York
HOW MUCH: $250.00 per person paid in full by June 1, 2012 – $300 thereafter (Includes all meals, training materials, and program supplies)
PREREQUISITES:

Must be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America,

Trainings:
Leaders – completed Venturing, Boy Scout, or Cub Scout Leader Specific Training Youth – Introduction to Leadership Skills All – Venture Youth Protection, Hazardous Weather, Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Climb on Safely(All can be found at myscouting.org)
